May 26, 2010Filmmaker Jafar Panahi was arrested on March 1, 2010 for the second time in less than a year. He had earlier been arrested for attending a memorial for Neda Soltani who was killed during the demonstrations following the flawed 2009 presidential elections. (More here.)
Panahi was arrested along with 15 guests including the filmmakers Mohammad Rasoulof and Mehdi Pourmoussa. Most of the guests were released within 48 hours. Rasoulaf and Pourmoussa were released on the 17th of March.
Panahi was eventually released on $200,000 bail in May.
