June 16, 2011FIDH (International Federation of Human Rights) has posted a piece in Persian on the announcement by Iran’s Attorney General that hundreds of executions will take place in Tehran. Most of those executions are said to be for drug-related crimes. In crimes of murder, the family is given the option to receive blood money or to execute the perpetrator. Those cases take more time to hear.
FIDH and LDDHI (Iranian League for the Defense of Human Rights) ask for a halt to all executions and expresses additional concern that so many minorities in Iran are targeted. In related news, Daneshjoo (Student) News reports that ten people were executed in Tehran’s Evin Prison today.
