Arseh Sevom Annual Reports 2017-2020
May 24, 2021Joint NGO letter on the human rights situation in Iran
March 24, 2022Arseh Sevom has launched a crowdfunding campaign to support the co-creation of podcasts and other content with people from Afghanistan who are both inside and outside the country. The funding from the campaign will go to fund their work directly.
The project is led by Raziya Masumi, who is currently studying law in the Netherlands and has experience working on international projects inside Afghanistan. Raziya:
“The people of Afghanistan feel forgotten by the world. They have been left alone to deal with violence and terror and hunger. There are so many voices who demand to be heard. That’s why Arseh Sevom decided to do this project with people in the country. The Afghanistan project will help people like me. People who work for a free and open society. Those who are worried about hunger and feeding and educating their children.”
“I asked my mother, what is going to happen to us?”
Every day Arseh Sevom receives messages from people inside Afghanistan who are desperate for a better future. One 14-year old girl sent this message:
“The day that Taliban invaded the country I was thinking about school. I asked my mother, what is going to happen to us? I was looking at my books and notebooks and remembering all those days I was preparing to go to school. I wish that those days would come again.”
“The Taliban changed everything”
A gym teacher had to say farewell to sports:
“I was a sports teacher and trained many girls to play volleyball. My students participated in many tournaments and competitions with other schools. I wished to see my students participate in International tournaments too. But the Taliban changed everything. I had to say farewell to sport.”
Families forced to leave their homes
A displaced person from the Kendi district of Daikundi province told us that the Taliban have removed families in these areas from their homes and are forcing them to leave the district.
Threats against women attorneys
A defense attorney told Arseh Sevom:
“The Taliban has released men convicted of domestic violence against women. Now they are threatening the women lawyers. We fear going outside and must stay at home.”
“There is nothing left for us”
I had a dream of continuing my studies and becoming a prosecutor. But the Taliban took over my dreams. They deprived girls of their rights, and there is nothing left for us. We can’t study, and we can’t go to school anymore just because we are girls.
By donating to the Voices from Afghanistan project, you will help support the production of the prodcasts and the individuals working on it behind the scenes both in Afghanistan and in the diaspora.
