July 31, 2018Arseh Sevom joins others in congratulating Professor Javaid Rehman on his appointment as UN Special Rapporteur for Human Rights in Iran. This is a big responsibility and we are certain he is up to the task.
Dr. Rehman was born in Pakistan, where he finished his undergraduate degree. From there he studied law in the UK, where he completed his PhD. He now serves as Head of Brunel Law School in the UK.
Dr. Rehman is an expert on Islamic law, international human rights law, and international terrorism. In fact, he has written a well regarded text book on international human rights law, in addition to several other books. We trust that he will be fair and methodical and good partner for civil society organizations and human rights defenders.
