Arseh Sevom--The final post of a three-part series summarizing the Hivos report, The Green Movement: Seizing the State or Democratizing Society, examines the long struggle for democracy in Iran and the stunted growth of its civil society. Editor Shervin Nekuee states that "The most essential question these citizens have to deal with is whether they are capable of preventing the arrival of yet another tyrant..." Civil Society activist Sohrab Razzaghi says, “The fundamental issue is that the idea of a civil society is not yet considered a social project among Iranian intelligentsia and social forces [...]”

ICT and Environmental Sustainability

In this paper, published as part of a report on ICTs and Environmental Society, Arseh Seovm's Sohrab Razzaghi argues that ICT can be used to promote sustainable growth in Iran. He suggests using Information and Communication Technology to address issues of city management, pollution, and environmental issues. Recommendations to EU about Human Rights in Iran

Recently, Arseh Sevom's Sohrab Razzaghi met with EU officials in Brussels and spoke about the position on human rights in Iran. His piece was published on InsideIran.org. His key points included:

Creating social networks in order to support the political and civil liberties movement in Iran and starting talks with Iran’s civil rights and political activists to enhance human rights and democracy in Iran. European countries and the EU must take clearer positions about the Iranian government and its violation of human rights. The EU must place human rights as its top priority on its agenda.

Sealing of ICTRC Offices In Tehran by the Islamic Revolutionary Court

At 1:30 PM, Thursday 15 March, 2007, when members of the board of directors of ICTRC were holding a weekly meeting and most of the staff were present at the ICTRC office, the Intelligence forces (4 persons at first, but 2 other persons showed up later too) came to ICTRC office holding a search warrant issued by the Islamic Republic Revolutionary Court.
